Nepal Flood Relief

A glacial collapse in the Himalaya on 26 August 2026 sent flash floods down the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli, destroying settlements, bridges and hydropower plants across seven districts of Nepal. India began airlifting relief the same day and has since delivered relief material, modular steel bridge equipment, a tunnel rescue contingent and forensic teams.

Operation Brahma

Myanmar Earthquake Response

India launched Operation Brahma within a day of the 28 March 2025 earthquake in central Myanmar. Six aircraft and five naval ships delivered 625 tonnes of relief material, an 80-member NDRF search-and-rescue team worked in Mandalay, and an Indian Army field hospital treated more than 2,500 patients.

Typhoon Yagi Relief — Southeast Asia

India dispatched relief consignments to Myanmar, Laos and Vietnam after Typhoon Yagi caused widespread flooding across Southeast Asia in September 2024, moving supplies by air and sea.

Cyclone Mocha Relief — Myanmar

Following Cyclone Mocha's landfall in Rakhine State in May 2023, India sent relief material to Myanmar aboard Indian Navy vessels, including emergency food, tents, medicines and water.

Türkiye–Syria Earthquake Response

Hours after the 6 February 2023 earthquake, India began flying search-and-rescue teams, medical personnel, a field hospital and relief material to Türkiye, and separately sent emergency medical consignments to Syria.

India sent consignments of medicines and relief material to Ukraine during the conflict, moved by air and by road through neighbouring countries.

Afghanistan Humanitarian Assistance

India began sending wheat, medicines, vaccines and winter clothing to Afghanistan in 2022, moving consignments overland through Pakistan and by air, and routing distribution through the World Food Programme and other agencies.

Sri Lanka Economic Crisis Support

During Sri Lanka's 2022 foreign exchange crisis India extended a package of emergency support covering fuel, food, medicine and fertiliser. Most of that support took the form of credit facilities and deferred payments, not grants.

COVID-19 Vaccine Supply

From 20 January 2021, India supplied COVID-19 vaccines manufactured in India to partner countries as grants, on commercial terms and through the COVAX facility. The first consignments went to neighbouring countries as grant assistance.

An Indian Air Force aircraft airlifted essential medicines and hospital consumables to Malé during the early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic, when commercial supply routes had closed.
